Max Meurer received the award for the best poster presented during the DRD1 Gaseous Detectors Simulation School 2026, held from May 18th to 22nd 2026 at the university of Bari, Italy. His poster, entitled "Optimization of the strip
design in Floating Strip Micromegas based on signal formation studies" discusses parts of his PhD research, aiming at the realization of ultra-thin tracking detectors for a clinical proton CT system together with Dr. Jona Bortfeldt (LMU, Medical Physics) and supervised by Prof. Katia Parodi (LMU, Medical Physics) and Prof. Otmar Biebel (LMU, High-Energy Physics).

The prizes carries a certificate and a monetary component (250EUR), sponsored
by Instruments (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/instruments/announcements/16681).

The school (https://indico.cern.ch/event/1606443/) is an initiative of the DRD1 collaboration (https://drd1.web.cern.ch/) and focused on cutting-edge simulation of state-of-the-art gaseous detector technologies including MPGDs, (M)RPCs and wire-based detectors. Max participation was co-funded by Cusanuswerk e.V. (https://www.cusanuswerk.de/) and CALA (https://cala-laser.de).
